The Twelves tonight

They were predicted to do something together in their life. It was written since their birth: the two guys who compose The Twelves are both born on the 20th of July 1980 in Brasil.

They will play tonight at the Button Factory. I'm sorry it's a bit late but if you can read this post on time, you really should go there.

It starts at 11pm and it is only €10 to get in. (Buy tickets here)

Here are two very good remixes they made. The first is for M.I.A and the second for Two Door Cinema Club.

Agenda of the weekend

Hi everyone! How are you?
I hope you're doing well because this week end is going to be, as usual, a good one.

First, there's the Griffith Graduation Ball tomorrow, in D|2.

I don't like this club very much but the flat roof is cool and there are great drinks promotions like €4 a pint of Heineken (no need to tell you that you have to drink moderately of course...).

It can also be funny to meet ancient student of Griffith College, talk to them and see what they became. They may have good advices.

It is €5 with tickets and €8 at the door.

On Friday the 12th, there is one of the  greatest concert of the semester: M.I.A is playing live at Tripod. The singer of the famous Paper planes' song (Slumdog Millionaire's song)

will present  her third album, released in July this year.
BUT, because everything cannot be perfect, the tickets are very (too much in my mind) expensive.
You should spend at least €40 to  see the concert, but if it's ok for you, then you must go!

On Saturday, let's go to say Happy Birthday to the Twisted Pepper. It celebrates its two year old. I can be very fun, full of surprises and the music is always good in this place. Francois K will play.

Independants Day

Nothing to do with Roland Emmerich's film with Will Smith.
It takes place in Dublin 8, in the Dublin food co-op at the 12 Newmarket on Sunday (the 7th).

It is an annual Do It Yourself cultural event, with exhibitions, screenings and live performances. It is a great experience to meet people from Dublin's cultural background, like artists, photographers, musicians and author for example.

It starts at noon and lasts all the afternoon. The entrance fee is only €2.

If you need more informations, othey are on their blog here.

Enjoy!

Agenda of the week

We are the day after Halloween so I imagine that most of the readers of this blog have got one of the biggest hangover of the year. But, Monday is the perfect day to organize the week to come, and make sure you do the right choices. And because the last week was very charged, the program is light this time:

Thursday: for ending their UK tour, Chromeo will come in Dublin to play at Tripod. Based in Montreal, in Canada, this duo is one of the best in their category. Their music is simple but efficient, they can make a pop/rock concert as they can manage to electrify a nightclub with an electro dj set.

They will play live music this time, followed by the Australian synth/pop band Midnight Juggernauts, wich has already played with great artists such as Justice, Surkin,, The Klaxons or Crystal Castles.
Tickets cost 20€, and it's worth it.

More informations here.

Saturday: The Twisted Pepper organizes a good party with the German Dj and producer Monika Kruse. It is going to be a really good night for people who like techno music, but not only. Zemaria, a band from Sao-Paulo, will be there too. Their music is more electro with funky beats and dancing lyrics the whole with synthesizer behind.
12€ at the door, tickets and infos here.

Halloween

Hey everyone!
I hope you all enjoyed your weekend.

> What did you do this weekend? Tell us by commenting this post!

The moment waited by all the children, and we all have a part of childhood in our mind, has come: HALLOWEEN!
What a great excuse to party the whole week!

-On Tuesday, you can go to the d|2 on Hartcourt street, but don't waste your money, your time and your energy.
-On Wednesday, the Griffith College organize his own Halloween Ball @ Tramco. It's cheap (5€ with a ticket/8 on the door) and a lot of students from different countries have planned to go there so it promises to be a lot of fun.
-On Thursday, a quiet good program is expecting you: for the pre-party, you can go to the Bia Bar where there is a Soul Food party from 8:30pm to 10:30pm. The concept is simple: lounge and funky music with tasty food  not very expensive (about 9€ for an homemade burger). Once you have eaten and drunk a cocktail, go to the Traffic bar. It is holding an Electric Party, with electro, techno and house music. It's 6€ on the door.
-On Friday, the two German composing Digitalism will make a concert @ The Academy. It is quiet expensive (25.5€) but it's worth it. Click here to listen to them
-And for the survivors, on Saturday, I would recommend you to go to the Pentagon @ Tripod. A great party with fine music and new talents from the Dublin's underground stage of electro and techno music.

You can breathe now, it's Sunday. Do your homework...
